my favourite magazine
I first came across Frankie magazine back when I got my hair cut at The Powder Room. I was astounded. Interesting articles about completely random people! Scrummy tea party-type recipes! Actually wanting to read the whole damn thing! Also, it reminds me of one of my favourite comics, My Faith in Frankie. And, joy, when I finally found a store that sold it, it was only $8.50. That’s half the price of the sci-fi magazine I used to buy – back before it got even more expensive because you couldn’t get it sea-mailed. Why, yes, I am bitter.
For some reason I missed Frankie’s last issue, so I was very pleased to find it again today. Only not so pleased when I got soaked to my knickers walking home… But despite being exposed directly to our horizontal rain, I find Frankie only a little damp around the edges.
It’s hard to explain just what’s so cool about it, except that the people in it are quite inspirational and ordinary. It is the kind of magazine that drinks tea rather than coffee. I guess that’s why it suits me.
